As the seventh episode of Yellowstone's second season, "Resurrection Day" starts off with a powerful scene showing Rip Wort's apparent death from being shot by the Beck brothers who were seeking vengeance for their brother's death. The Dutton family are devastated by the loss of Rip, and John requests the assistance of the Yellowstone Reservation Police to hunt down the Beck brothers.
Meanwhile, Beth Dutton continues to carry out her ongoing campaign to destroy her father's enemies within the political and business world. Additionally, we see Kayce reunite with his son, Tate. He is determined to keep his family from experiencing the violence that has plagued the Duttons for years. He and his wife Monica have a heart-to-heart conversation that reveals some of the challenges they face, as well as their fierce commitment to one another.
In the background, an investigation continues into the death of a journalist whose previous work put her in the sights of the Duttons. This subplot is slowly unfolding, and it appears that the Duttons may be involved in her death in some way.
Throughout the episode, we see the various characters struggling with grief, anger, and a sense of responsibility. The themes of family, loyalty, and the cycle of violence continue to be explored in powerful ways. The tension is high, and the stakes are higher than ever as the season progresses.
The episode ends with a dramatic turn of events that leaves viewers on the edge of their seats. As with every episode of Yellowstone, the writing and acting are superb, and the cinematography captures the beauty and brutality of the Montana landscape.
