John Dutton, his daughter Beth, and son Jamie, are at the airport waiting to pick up Kayce and his wife Monica. As they disembark, there is tension in the air, as Kayce is now back under his father's control after quitting his job on the reservation. The family all head back to the Yellowstone Ranch where Kayce issues a harsh warning to Jamie, telling him that he needs to stay away from Monica and his family.
At the ranch, a new wrangler named Jimmy starts working for them. He is rough around the edges, but eager to learn and impress John with his work ethic. Meanwhile, John Dutton is worried about the future of the Yellowstone Ranch, as a neighboring land developer, Dan Jenkins, is making moves to buy up all the surrounding properties.
Kayce tries to settle back into life at the ranch with his son, Tate, and his wife, Monica. But things are not going well, as he is still suffering from PTSD and having flashbacks from his time in the military. Monica is also struggling with the isolation and lack of independence she feels living on the ranch.
Beth Dutton continues to be the ruthless power behind the throne of the Dutton family, using her sharp wit and cunning to manipulate those around her. She has a run-in with a local reporter who is trying to dig up dirt on the Duttons, and she shows him just how dangerous it can be to mess with her family.
As the episode progresses, tensions boil over between the Duttons and Jenkins, leading to a confrontation that threatens to upend everything. John and Jamie are forced to make a difficult decision that could cost them everything they've worked for.
Overall, Coming Home is a tense, dramatic episode that explores the complex relationships at the heart of the Dutton family. With strong performances from the entire cast, it is a gripping installment in the first season of Yellowstone.
