In Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories season 1 episode 2, titled E 2, viewers are taken on a chilling journey into the world of horror from Japanese folklore. The episode begins with a group of children playing a traditional game of "Red Light, Green Light" in an abandoned temple. Suddenly, one of the children, a young girl, disappears without a trace.

The next day, a substitute teacher arrives at the local school. Her name is Tatsuko, and she is immediately confronted with strange occurrences both in the classroom and outside of school. One of her students, a boy named Kiyotaka, tells her about the temple and the missing girl. He explains that the temple is said to be haunted by the spirit of a woman who was brutally murdered there many years ago.

As Tatsuko investigates the temple, she is confronted by the vengeful spirit of the murdered woman. The spirit warns Tatsuko to stay away and declares that she will claim the lives of anyone who enters the temple. However, Tatsuko refuses to be scared off and instead decides to uncover the truth behind the haunting.

With the help of Kiyotaka and another student, Tatsuko discovers that the murdered woman was actually innocent and had been framed by her jealous husband. This revelation allows the spirit to finally rest in peace, and the temple is once again safe to enter.

Overall, E 2 is a chilling and atmospheric episode that explores themes of revenge and justice. It is a great example of the unique horror stories that have become synonymous with Japanese folklore and an excellent addition to the Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories series.
