Yuichi Kirisaki, the son of one of the heir to the Kirisaki Enterprise, and Shigeru Kanmuri are in their final showdown in the Monaco Cup. Shigeru has managed to bake his bread before Yuichi, but as Yuichi's bread comes out of the oven, a cake emerges. Pandemonium breaks out in the hall as the judges strive to understand what has happened. The judges conclude that Yuichi's bread discharged heat for too long and hence it inevitably led to the emergence of the cake in the oven. As a dejected Yuichi leaves the hall, Shigeru proceeds to the finals against the European wonder kid, Pierrot Bolneze.
As Pierrot is renowned for his "Salomon" bread, Shigeru decides he has to up his game to beat him. He starts by learning the traditional dance of the Salomon tribe, hoping to get insights into Pierrot's methods. Shigeru decides to stick to his roots and proceeds to bake his "Ja-Pan #4," which he had trained so hard in making. He notes that the traditional methods handed down from history and experience are fundamental. As his bread comes out fresh, crispy, and with the perfect aroma that represents the spirit of Japanese bread, Pierrot concedes defeat.
