Ep 9. Supermarket Science

In this episode of Xploration DIY SCI, entitled "Supermarket Science," host Steve Spangler takes a deep dive into how science can be found in the most unexpected of places – the supermarket. He then shows how this same effect can be achieved using different types of liquids and agitators, such as an electric whisk.

Moving on from liquid science, Spangler explores the properties of dry ice. Using a grocery store cooler and some dry ice, he creates a mini fog machine and discusses how dry ice can be used for more practical applications such as pest control and food transportation.

Finally, Spangler wraps up the episode with another demonstration on density – this time using soda cans. By filling one can with water, another with diet soda, and a third with regular soda, he shows how differently the cans behave when placed in water due to the different levels of dissolved sugars and carbonation.
