Ep 2. Out of the Past: Part 2

Out of the Past: Part 2 is the second episode of the third season of X-Men: The Animated Series. This episode is the continuation of the first part, where Wolverine visits Japan and confronts his former lover, Lady Mariko Yashida. In this part, Wolverine is attacked by the Hand, a group of ninja assassins, soon after he arrived in Japan. Meanwhile, the X-Men are trapped in the Astral Plane, and they are looking for a way to return to the physical world.

The episode begins in the Astral Plane, where Storm, Jean Grey, and Morph are searching for their way back to Earth. They find themselves in a maze, where they are attacked by a group of creatures. The creatures chase them, and they separate from each other. Morph finds himself in a portal, and he jumps into it, hoping to find his way back to Earth.

Back in Japan, Wolverine is saved by Yukio, a mutant assassin and friend of his. Yukio tells him that the Hand is after Mariko, who is the head of the Yashida Clan. Wolverine and Yukio sneak into the Yashida estate, where they find Mariko, who is surprised to see Wolverine. She tells him that she cannot leave the estate because of her duty to her clan. Wolverine agrees to stay and protect her.

Meanwhile, in the Astral Plane, Jean and Storm are attacked by a group of samurais. They fight back, but they are outnumbered. Jean, who has telekinetic and telepathic powers, tries to use her powers to create a portal to Earth. However, she is unable to do it, and they are captured by the samurais.

Back in Japan, Wolverine and Mariko are attacked by the Hand. Wolverine fights back, but he is outnumbered. He is stabbed with poisoned shurikens and loses consciousness. Mariko is captured by the Hand, and Yukio is also injured.

When Wolverine wakes up, he finds himself in a hospital, where he is treated by a Japanese doctor. The doctor tells him that he has been poisoned, and he needs a special medicine to cure him. Wolverine tells him that he needs to find Mariko, who has been kidnapped by the Hand. He asks Yukio for help, and they set out to rescue Mariko.

They find Mariko in an abandoned temple, guarded by the Hand. Wolverine fights the Hand and manages to defeat them. He rescues Mariko, and they flee the temple. However, they are chased by the Hand, who are determined to kill Mariko.

In the Astral Plane, Morph finds himself in a strange world, where he is greeted by a mysterious figure. The figure tells him that he can help him find his way back to Earth, but he needs Morph's help first. He tells Morph that he needs to find a crystal, which has the power to create portals. Morph agrees to help him, and he sets out to find the crystal.

In Japan, Wolverine and his team are still being chased by the Hand. They manage to hide in a cave, where Wolverine tells Mariko that he still loves her. Mariko tells him that she loves him too, but they cannot be together because of their duty to their clans. Wolverine understands, and they part ways.

In the Astral Plane, Morph finds the crystal, but he is attacked by the same creatures that attacked the X-Men earlier. He fights back, but he is outnumbered. He manages to create a portal back to Earth, but he is injured in the process.

Back in Japan, Wolverine and his team are still being chased by the Hand. They manage to reach a port, where they steal a boat and escape into the sea. They are pursued by the Hand, who have also stolen a boat. Wolverine fights back, and he defeats the Hand. They manage to escape, and they set sail for home.

The episode ends with Morph waking up in the infirmary, where he is treated by Beast. The X-Men are happy to see him, and they welcome him back. They tell him that they have been looking for a way to contact Wolverine, who has been missing for days. Morph tells them that Wolverine is on his way back, and they celebrate their reunion.
