In the Xena: Warrior Princess Season 2 Episode 19, entitled "Ulysses," Xena and her trusty sidekick Gabrielle cross paths with the legendary hero Ulysses, who is on a mission to retrieve the legendary Jar of Olympus from the treacherous Cyclops.
The episode begins with Xena and Gabrielle stumbling upon a village that has been pillaged and burned by a group of bandits. They soon learn that Ulysses was also in the village, and that his ship has been stolen by the same bandits. Xena decides to help Ulysses retrieve his ship, and the trio sets off on a perilous journey across the sea.
As they sail towards the bandits' island, Ulysses reveals his true mission: to retrieve the Jar of Olympus, which he believes will help him restore his kingdom and reunite with his beloved wife, Penelope. However, the Jar is guarded by a fearsome Cyclops, who has already killed many of Ulysses' men and is determined to keep the Jar out of mortal hands.
Xena, Gabrielle, and Ulysses devise a plan to sneak onto the island and retrieve the Jar without alerting the Cyclops. They successfully infiltrate the Cyclops' lair, but their plan is soon thwarted when the Cyclops reveals that he is working for the god Poseidon, who has ordered him to protect the Jar at all costs.
Despite the odds against them, Xena, Gabrielle, and Ulysses refuse to give up. They engage in a fierce battle with the Cyclops, using their wits and their weapons to outsmart the giant beast. In the end, they are able to retrieve the Jar and make a daring escape from the island.
As they sail back towards Ulysses' kingdom, Xena and Gabrielle come to realize that Ulysses' true motivation is not just to restore his own kingdom, but to use the Jar to help all the people of Greece unite and live in peace. They are moved by his selflessness and determination, and vow to help him in his quest.
The episode ends with Xena, Gabrielle, and Ulysses sailing off into the sunset, ready to face whatever challenges may come their way.
