Ep 38. NXT UK 114: Heritage Cup Championship Begins

  • September 17, 2020

On this episode of WWE NXT UK, the highly anticipated Heritage Cup Championship begins. The Heritage Cup is a unique tournament featuring six rounds of three-minute matches, with a one-minute rest period in between each round. The first wrestler to secure two falls within the rounds will be declared the winner.

The Heritage Cup Championship kicks off with an exciting match between two formidable opponents, "The Iron King" Joe Coffey and "The Mad Russian" Alexander Wolfe. Coffey, a Scottish powerhouse, is known for his raw power and technical skill in the ring. Wolfe, a German wrestler, made his name as part of the dominant stable SAnitY on WWE's main roster before returning to NXT UK in 2019.

The match begins with a traditional collar-and-elbow tie-up, with both men jostling for dominance. Coffey gains the upper hand with a powerful arm drag, but Wolfe quickly switches gears and takes Coffey down with a leg sweep. The first round ends with no falls, but both wrestlers look determined to come out on top.

Round two sees more grappling, with Wolfe focusing on Coffey's legs and Coffey trying to wear Wolfe down with his superior strength. Despite some close calls and near-pins, neither wrestler manages to secure a fall in this round either.

The third round heats up quickly, with both wrestlers unleashing their signature moves. Coffey lands a devastating lariat on Wolfe, nearly knocking him out cold, but Wolfe manages to kick out at the last second. In a surprising twist, Wolfe catches Coffey in a triangle choke hold, forcing Coffey to tap out and securing the first fall of the match.

Coffey looks stunned as the first minute of the rest period begins, but quickly regains his composure. The fourth round starts out defensively, but Coffey soon gains the upper hand with a flurry of strikes. Wolfe counters with a DDT, but Coffey kicks out just in time. The round ends with both wrestlers exhausted but still determined to come out on top.

In the fifth round, Coffey starts to show signs of fatigue, but still manages to land some heavy blows to Wolfe's midsection. Wolfe responds with a series of kicks and a vicious powerbomb, but Coffey somehow kicks out at the last second. The rest period begins again, with both wrestlers struggling to catch their breath.

The sixth and final round is do-or-die for both wrestlers. Coffey comes out swinging, but Wolfe manages to dodge and counter with a German suplex. Coffey fights back with a spear, but Wolfe catches him in another triangle choke hold. This time, Coffey refuses to tap out, and manages to power out of the hold and land a devastating Glasgow Sendoff on Wolfe. The crowd erupts as Coffey secures the second fall and the win, moving on to the next round of the Heritage Cup Championship.

In other matches on the episode, Isla Dawn takes on Xia Brookside in a high-flying women's match, with both wrestlers showcasing their impressive aerial skills. The bout ends in controversial fashion, with a dispute over a pinfall that leaves both wrestlers dissatisfied.

In a tag team match, The Hunt takes on Pretty Deadly in a hard-hitting battle. Both teams show off their brawling skills, with The Hunt ultimately coming out on top thanks to their teamwork and tenacity.

Overall, this episode of NXT UK features some of the best wrestling action in recent memory, with the Heritage Cup Championship taking center stage. Fans will be eagerly anticipating the next round of matches in this unique and thrilling tournament.
