WWE Battleground was an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by WWE, which took place on July 19, 2015, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The event was the third edition of the Battleground chronology and featured wrestlers from both the Raw and Smackdown brands.
One of the main events of the show was a triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship between the then-champion Seth Rollins (aka Colby Lopez), Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker (aka Mark Calaway). This was an intense matchup, as Rollins had recently aligned himself with The Authority, a stable of wrestlers with a lot of power and influence, and Lesnar and The Undertaker had both decided to go after Rollins in order to take the title away from him.
The match was a rollercoaster ride of action and drama, with all three competitors pulling out all the stops to get the upper hand. There were incredible maneuvers, such as Rollins leaping off the top rope into a hurricanrana on Lesnar, and Lesnar German suplexing Rollins through the announce table. Meanwhile, The Undertaker was providing a significant challenge of his own, hitting Rollins with a chokeslam and Lesnar with a Tombstone Piledriver.
In the end, the match came down to a showdown between Lesnar and The Undertaker, as Rollins was taken out of the equation after Lesnar hit him with an F-5. The Undertaker was able to capitalize on this, hitting Lesnar with a low blow and then locking in his signature move, the Hell's Gate submission hold. Despite Lesnar's best efforts to break the hold, he was unable to and eventually passed out, giving The Undertaker the victory and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Another compelling match on the card was a Battleground battle royal, which saw multiple wrestlers vying to be the last person standing in the ring. This included a mix of wrestlers from both Raw and Smackdown, including Luke Harper, Cesaro, and Randy Orton. The match saw some exciting moments, such as Roman Reigns eliminating 10 competitors in a row and Reigns and Orton duking it out near the end of the match.
The battle royal ultimately came down to Reigns and Sheamus, with Sheamus seemingly having the upper hand after hitting Reigns with a Brogue Kick. However, Reigns was able to recover and hit Sheamus with a Superman punch, sending him over the ropes and out of the ring. Reigns was then declared the winner of the battle royal, and thus earned a future shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
There were many other matches on the card, including a brutal encounter between Kevin Owens and John Cena for the United States Championship, as well as a tag team match featuring The Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil and Darren Young) facing off against The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston). All of these matches provided exciting moments for the WWE Universe in attendance, as well as those watching from home.
Overall, WWE Battleground 2015 was a thrilling event that showcased some of the best wrestlers in the world competing at the highest level. From the high-flying moves of Rollins to the powerhouse style of Lesnar and the legendary presence of The Undertaker, this event had something for everyone. Whether you're a diehard wrestling fan or simply someone who enjoys great athleticism and entertainment, WWE Battleground was a must-see event.
