Ep 7. Episode 6

"Would I Lie To You?" is a British comedy panel show that tests the wit and honesty (or dishonesty) of its contestants. Each episode features two teams of two, with one team member reading out a statement about themselves or someone they know, and the other team members trying to guess whether the statement is true or false. The show is hosted by comedian Rob Brydon, and the opposing team captains are David Mitchell and Lee Mack.

In season 8, episode 7 (named Episode 6), the two teams are made up of returning guests. Comedian and TV presenter Mel Giedroyc is joined by actor and comedian Tom Rosenthal, while journalist and broadcaster Jeremy Vine is paired with comedian and writer Roisin Conaty.

The first round sees each guest give a short statement about themselves, with the opposing team guessing whether it's true or false. Mel starts confidently, claiming that when she was younger, she had a full-sized cutout of The Fonz from "Happy Days" in her bedroom. The opposing team is skeptical, but Mel insists it's true. Tom, meanwhile, insists that he once won a staring contest with a cat, and Jeremy claims that he once interviewed Jimi Hendrix's father. Roisin rounds off the round by saying that she once dressed up as a mermaid for a Christmas party, complete with a green tail and seashell bra.

The second round involves a bit more deception, as each guest reads out a strange object they have brought with them, and the opposing team must guess why they own it. Mel produces a small, furry eyepatch, which she claims has helped her overcome a phobia of flying. Tom presents a tiny replica of a parachute, which he claims he carries with him as a good luck charm. Roisin brings out what appears to be a large green egg, which she says is actually a fortune-telling device. Jeremy's object is a pair of shoes with the soles removed, which he claims were once owned by Winston Churchill's nephew.

In the final round, each guest must read out a statement provided by the show's team of writers, with the opposing team guessing whether it's true or false. Mel's statement involves a dangerous encounter with a swarm of bees, while Tom's is about an embarrassing incident on a train. Roisin's statement is a little more complicated, involving a bizarre wedding ritual in a remote village in Spain. Jeremy's statement is a simple one, but it may be too straightforward to be true.

As always, the show is full of laughs and surprises, with plenty of playful banter between the guests and the host. With each round, the contestants must come up with increasingly absurd and convincing stories, all in the name of entertainment. Whether they're telling the truth or lying through their teeth, the guests are sure to have a good time on "Would I Lie To You?" season 8, episode 7.
