Would I Lie to You? is a British comedy panel show that airs on BBC One and has been running since 2007. In each episode, two teams of three celebrity panelists try to deceive each other with unbelievable stories, while the opposing team tries to spot the lies and uncover the truth. The show is hosted by comedian Rob Brydon, who keeps the banter flowing and ensures everything runs smoothly.
Season 3 of the show consists of 9 episodes, and episode 8 is one of the highlights. In this episode, the regular team captains, Lee Mack and David Mitchell, are joined by comedian Katy Brand and actor Chris Tarrant on Lee's team, while David's team features presenter Ben Fogle and comedian Sarah Millican. Both teams are full of banter and ready to take on the challenge, but who will come out on top?
As always, the show starts with a quickfire round called "Home Truths", in which each panelist reads out a statement about themselves, which may be true or false. The opposing team has to decide whether they are lying or telling the truth. Some of the stories in this episode are particularly hilarious, with Katy claiming that she was once suspended from school for smoking behind the bike sheds, while Chris claims that he once punched a rattlesnake in the face. The truth may be stranger than fiction, but it's up to the teams to work out which is which.
Next up, the teams take turns to read out a statement from a card, which they either wrote themselves, or which has been provided to them by the production team. Their opponents then have to interrogate them to try and work out whether the story is true or false. This round always produces some classic moments, and this episode is no exception. Chris Tarrant tells a story about being mistaken for a woman by a French hotel receptionist, while Ben Fogle talks about meeting a tribe of cannibals in Papua New Guinea. The banter between the teams is sharp and entertaining, as they try to work out who is telling the truth and who is lying.
The highlight of the show, however, is the final round, in which each panelist reads out a statement about themselves, which is either true or false. However, this time, they have to convince the opposing team that their story is true, even if it isn't. This round requires a balance of quick thinking and acting ability, and the panelists in this episode do not disappoint. Katy Brand claims that she was once caught drink-driving while dressed as Wonderwoman, while Lee Mack tells a story about being attacked by an otter while on a fishing trip. The teams have to use all their tactics to work out who is lying, and the atmosphere in the studio is electric.
Overall, Would I Lie to You? season 3 episode 8 is a rollicking good time, full of laughs, silliness, and quick thinking. The panelists are on top form, and the banter between them is sharp and entertaining. Whether you're a fan of the show or new to it, this episode is well worth a watch.
