Would I Lie To You? is a British comedy panel show that originally aired in 2007 on BBC One. Hosted by Rob Brydon, the show features two teams, each comprised of one permanent captain and two guest celebrities. The teams take turns telling stories about themselves, some of which are true and some of which are lies. The opposing team must then try to determine whether the story is fact or fiction.
Season 1 Episode 12, titled "Musical Emergency," features team captains David Mitchell and Lee Mack, as well as guest panelists Vic Reeves, Miranda Hart, Rufus Hound, and Gemma Cairney. The episode opens with the introduction of each of the guests and a brief explanation of the rules of the show.
The first round, called "Home Truths," features each of the panelists reading out a statement about themselves, one of which is a lie. The opposing team must then ask questions to try to determine which statement is false. Vic Reeves kicks off the round, claiming that he once received a lifetime ban from a cinema for shouting and throwing popcorn. Rufus Hound shares that he once brought his dog to a sushi restaurant and pretended it was a seeing-eye dog. Gemma Cairney claims that she once got stuck in a portaloo for two hours. Finally, Miranda Hart declares that she once performed stand-up comedy on a cruise ship and it didn't go well.
The second round, called "This Is My," involves each of the panelists presenting an unusual object and claiming that it is theirs. The opposing team must then try to guess which person actually owns the item. Among the objects presented are a rubber chicken, a framed photo of a man dressed as a mermaid, a beret that once belonged to Winston Churchill, and a pair of handcuffs.
The third round, called "Ring of Truth," features each of the panelists telling a story about a specific topic. The opposing team must then try to determine whether the story is true or false. The topic for this episode is musical emergency, and the stories include Vic Reeves getting locked in a dressing room while dressed as Gary Glitter, Gemma Cairney pretending to be in a band to get into a festival, Rufus Hound attempting to perform a rap for the Queen, and Miranda Hart getting lost on stage during a pantomime.
The fourth and final round, called "Quickfire Lies," involves each of the panelists presenting a quickfire statement about themselves, one of which is false. The opposing team must then quickly guess which statement is the lie. Among the statements presented are Vic Reeves claiming that he has a degree in armadillo studies, Rufus Hound claiming that he was once asked to be a sperm donor for a celebrity, Gemma Cairney claiming that she has a phobia of crisps, and Miranda Hart claiming that she auditioned to be a backing dancer for Boyzone.
Throughout the episode, the panelists engage in witty banter and playful teasing, and the audience is kept on their toes as they try to guess which stories are true and which are lies. In the end, the winning team is declared and the episode closes with a final comedic exchange between the panelists and the host.
