In the third episode of Worst Cooks in America season 9, the remaining contestants are challenged to create an Oktoberfest feast. The chefs, Anne Burrell and Tyler Florence, start by teaching the recruits how to properly fillet and cook fish. After a demonstration, the competitors are given 30 minutes to prepare their own version of a fish entrée.
Next, the chefs invite members of a German-American club to taste and judge the traditional Oktoberfest dishes prepared by the recruits. The contestants are split into two teams, with each team responsible for making a different dish.
Team 1 is tasked with making sauerbraten, a marinated roast beef dish. The team struggles with timing and coordination, causing tension and frustration. Meanwhile, Team 2 is cooking up schnitzel, a classic German dish made with breaded and fried meat. Both teams have difficulty with the amount of prep work involved, with one member of Team 2 even burning the schnitzel.
As the clock runs down, the recruits need to hustle to make sure their dishes are complete and ready for judging. The German-American club members sample each dish and provide feedback to Anne and Tyler. While some dishes impress, others fall short.
In the end, one recruit is eliminated while the others move on to the next challenge, getting one step closer to potentially winning $25,000 and the title of best worst cook.
