Departing first from camp 2, Team New Zealand leads the field as they arrive in darkness at the white-water rafting put in. Here they will be held until they can safely start in the morning, allowing all of the other front running teams to catch them. Team Bend Racing continues to recover and improve from their early race heat exhaustion and arrive at Camp 2 feeling stronger. Guatemalan Team Hombres d' Maize is desperate to replace a broken bike part, otherwise they will be forced to drop out of the race. Team Onyx and Team Khukuri Warriors build Bilibili rafts with the help of locals and plot their course downriver. Not far behind, last place Team Stray Dogs struggle to find a checkpoint in the darkness. At 6 AM the river rafting section opens and the front-running teams all push hard to conquer the white-water rapids in Leg 3. Determined to make a push to return to the top of the pack, American favorites - Team Out There become mired in the thick, sticky mud from the recent rains and are relegated to pushing their mountain bikes, falling even farther behind. Back at Camp 2, Team Hombres d'Maize gets some welcome news when they are informed that a recently disqualified team is loaning an unused bike to them, saving the Guatemalans from disqualification. Bear Grylls takes some time to talk one-on-one with Team AR Georgia, including one of the youngest competitors on the course. Many of the slower teams are making their way downriver on Bilibili rafts, which are in constant need of maintenance and repair. Far ahead at the front of the race, lead teams finish white-water rafting and begin a daunting 45 KM trek and navigation through dense Fijian jungle, heading into Camp 3. Some teams utilize locals for help, and Team Summit hires a local horse to carry supplies, which ends up being a costly mistake. The lead teams arrive to Camp 3 and begin to gear up for the most challenging section of the entire course, a punishing rope climb up the dangerous Vuwa Falls.
