Kuga and Azuma are under attack by a Trigger wielding strangers in the city. When they tried to fight back, both of them found themselves surprisingly powerless. It's strange because they were generally powerful and they've seen some of their colleagues with the same kind of Triggers before. The strangers continue their attacks, forcing people to move to safer areas of the city.
As Kuga and Azuma try to find out what is happening, they come across a building where they meet a group of Trion Warriors who live on the fringes of the city without a proper home or protection. They seem to be composed of people who can't find a place in society, and their spirits are low because they have never been treated fairly and kindly.
Kuga and Azuma see a chance to help them and to find out what happened to their Trion. They decided to go undercover, and to read the situarion in the community. They discover that the natives had served as lab rats for a scientific experiment without being aware of it. That is because the scientists convinced them that they would be human test subjects for a new pharmaceutical drug that will help cure their illnesses.
Kuga and Azuma, with the help of the others, find out that their Trion was being drained by the people running the experiment. They were draining Trion from the "have nots" to use it for their selfish purposes.
Eventually, the group successfully stopped the experiment, and the natives were free from danger. They finally received help from the city and even got offered a place in society.
The episode is action-packed, with a lot of set pieces throughout. There are shootouts and hand-to-hand combat moments, and there are also heartwarming scenes where Kuga and Azuma help the people. The episode explores themes of powerlessness and placelessness while providing an exciting story. It's an excellent addition to the series and continues to build on the world and characters of World Trigger.
