In season 4 episode 9 of Workaholics, entitled "Best Buds," Adam, Blake, and Ders are on a mission to find a new best friend. However, their search takes a turn for the worse when they find themselves in some awkward and uncomfortable situations.
The episode starts with the guys watching a video of themselves from five years ago when they were hanging out with their former best friend, Karl. They realize that they haven't made any new friends since then and decide to actively search for someone to fill the Karl-shaped hole in their lives.
Their first attempt at finding a new BFF is unsuccessful when they approach a random guy at the park and awkwardly try to befriend him. The guy is weirded out and quickly walks away, leaving the guys feeling defeated.
They turn to Craigslist to find potential best buds and end up meeting a guy named Montez who seems cool at first but quickly reveals himself to be a bit of a weirdo. They try to politely avoid him but he keeps showing up wherever they go.
Meanwhile, Jillian is dealing with her own friend drama when her best friend turns out to be a total nightmare. She confides in Alice that her friend is constantly gossiping about her and making her feel bad about herself.
As the episode progresses, the guys' attempts at finding a new best friend become more and more desperate. They even resort to asking a homeless man if he wants to hang out with them. When he declines, they realize that they might need to reevaluate their priorities.
Eventually, they realize that they don't need to find a new best friend because they already have each other. They apologize for neglecting their friendship and vow to never take each other for granted again.
The episode ends with the guys sitting on the roof, drinking beers and watching the stars. They reminisce about all the good times they've had together and pledge to make many more memories in the future.
Overall, "Best Buds" is a funny and heartwarming episode that explores the importance of friendship and the dangers of trying too hard to find a new best friend.
