The episode also sees a number of smaller storylines playing out. Bailey tries to convince Dr. Johnny Fever to take her to dinner as a thank-you for saving his life during a previous episode. Les, the station's newsman, tries to interview a local exterminator about his work, but ends up getting sidetracked by a story about a litter of cats. And Venus, the station's smooth-voiced nighttime DJ, spends the day trying to convince Herb to dress up as Santa Claus for a local charity event.
