WKRP in Cincinnati season 3 episode 5, Hotel Oceanview, is another hilarious installment of the popular sitcom. The episode begins with station manager Arthur Carlson receiving a call from a friend who owns a hotel in Florida. The friend wants to promote the hotel on WKRP's popular "Ask Jennifer" segment and offers Carlson a free stay in exchange.

Carlson jumps at the chance and sets off for Florida with Bailey Quarters. Along the way, they pick up Herb Tarlek, who somehow manages to wrangle himself an invitation as well. When they arrive at the hotel, they discover that it isn't exactly a luxury resort, instead resembling a rundown motel in desperate need of renovation.

As Carlson and Tarlek struggle to find ways to promote the hotel, Jennifer Marlowe begins receiving strange phone calls from a man claiming to be a rubber goods salesman named "Mr. Carlson." Unbeknownst to everyone else, the true Mr. Carlson is holed up in his hotel room, too embarrassed to admit to Bailey and Herb that he was conned into staying at such a shoddy establishment.

Meanwhile, back at the station, Andy Travis is dealing with his own troubles. A new sponsor, a recording studio, has just signed on to advertise on WKRP, but their jingle is so bad that everyone at the station hates it, including Travis. When the jingle's composer, a failed musician named Bucky Dornster, shows up looking for feedback, Travis decides to take matters into his own hands and turn the catchy-but-annoying jingle into a bona fide hit.

As the episode progresses, chaos ensues on multiple fronts. Carlson, still too embarrassed to leave his hotel room, sends Herb out to promote the hotel on his own, with disastrous results. Jennifer continues to receive bizarre phone calls from the mysterious "Mr. Carlson," but no one can quite figure out who he is or what he wants. And Travis's efforts to turn the terrible jingle into a hit are met with resistance from the rest of the staff, who think he's gone off the rails.

Despite all the mayhem, however, everything comes together in the end. Carlson finally emerges from his hotel room and admits his mistake, while Herb manages to salvage the hotel's reputation with a new advertising campaign. Jennifer, too, figures out the identity of her persistent caller and manages to outsmart him. And Travis's efforts to transform the terrible jingle into a hit pay off, as the recording studio sees a surge in business thanks to WKRP's promotion.

Overall, WKRP in Cincinnati season 3 episode 5 is a fun, lighthearted installment of the beloved sitcom, filled with zany antics and plenty of laughs. Whether you're a fan of the show or a newcomer, this episode is sure to keep you entertained from start to finish.
