In the tenth episode of WKRP in Cincinnati's first season, titled "A Date with Jennifer," Jennifer Marlowe is the focus of attention. One of the station's advertisers, a crooked used car salesman, has invited Jennifer to be his guest at a fancy restaurant. She agrees to go but only with the understanding that it's purely a business deal. However, when the date doesn't go as planned, it becomes a real problem for Jennifer and the radio station.
Throughout the episode, we see the WKRP team trying to figure out how to handle the situation. Andy Travis, the station's program director, is notably protective of Jennifer and doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable or be taken advantage of. He is also concerned about the impact the negative publicity could have on the station's image.
Meanwhile, the rest of the staff is trying to come up with ways to make the car salesman pay for what he's done. Most notably, Les Nessman, the station's news director, comes up with a hilarious (yet ultimately ineffective) plan involving an on-air confrontation.
As always, the episode is full of comedy and heartwarming moments. One of the highlights of the show is the cast's chemistry – you really get the sense that these characters care about each other and work well together. Additionally, the writing is sharp and witty, with plenty of memorable one-liners and clever jokes.
Overall, "A Date with Jennifer" is a great episode that showcases all of the strengths of WKRP in Cincinnati. If you're a fan of classic sitcoms with a lot of heart, this is definitely a show worth checking out.
