In Wizards of Waverly Place season 3 episode 14, titled "Third Wheel," Alex's best friend Harper is feeling left out and unwanted by Alex and her new boyfriend Mason. While Alex and Mason enjoy their time alone, Harper starts to feel like the third wheel and convinces Justin to turn her into a werewolf so she can spend time with them as their pet. However, things quickly go wrong when Harper's werewolf antics start causing chaos and destruction wherever they go. Meanwhile, Max tries to become more fashionable to impress a girl he likes.
The episode begins with Alex and Mason spending more and more time together, leaving Harper feeling left out and hurt. When Alex cancels their plans together to go on a date with Mason, Harper decides she's had enough and asks Justin to turn her into a werewolf. Despite their reservations, Justin and Max eventually agree to help Harper out, and the transformation process begins.
Harper is excited to join Alex and Mason on their date, but things quickly go wrong when Harper starts acting like a wild and uncontrollable animal. She destroys restaurant tables, howls at the moon, and even attacks a random passerby. Alex and Mason struggle to control her, which leads to a lot of tension between the three of them.
Elsewhere, Max is trying to impress a girl he likes by dressing more stylishly. He buys an expensive jacket that he thinks will win her over, but it turns out he's not quite as fashionable as he thought. When his crush sees him wearing the jacket, she thinks it's ridiculous and tells him so. Max is disappointed but eventually learns that it's more important to be himself than to impress someone else.
Back at the restaurant, Alex and Mason's attempts to control Harper are becoming increasingly desperate. They try to lure her back into the spell that turned her into a werewolf, but she resists and starts wreaking more havoc. Eventually, Alex comes up with a plan to fake a break-up with Mason so that Harper won't feel like a third wheel anymore. She tells Harper that she wants to focus on their friendship again and Mason agrees to step back for a little while.
With their relationship seemingly back to normal, Harper agrees to turn back into a human and everyone heads home. However, in the final moments of the episode, it's revealed that Harper isn't quite back to her old self just yet. She's still exhibiting some werewolf-like behavior, hinting that there may be more trouble to come.
Overall, "Third Wheel" is a fun and silly episode that highlights the importance of friendship and being true to oneself. It's entertaining to see Harper as a werewolf, and the tension between her, Alex, and Mason adds a nice layer of drama to the episode. Max's storyline, while less central, is also entertaining and provides a nice counterpoint to the werewolf shenanigans. All in all, "Third Wheel" is a solid addition to the show's third season.
