In Wire In The Blood season 1 episode 5, titled "Justice Painted Blind, Part 1," Detective Inspector Carol Jordan and clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill are called in to investigate the brutal murder of a young woman in a park. The victim, Anne Stavely, was found with her eyes gouged out and the words "Justice" and "Vengeance" painted on her body in blood.
As Hill and Jordan begin their investigation, they quickly realize that there may be a link between Anne's murder and the recent release of a notorious serial killer, Alan McEwan, who had a similar modus operandi. Despite his claims of innocence, McEwan was convicted of several murders and sentenced to life in prison, thanks in part to Hill's testimony as an expert witness.
As they delve deeper into the case, Hill begins to suspect that McEwan may have had an accomplice who is now carrying on his work. Meanwhile, Jordan faces pressure from her superiors to solve the case quickly and without drawing attention to the fact that McEwan may have been wrongly convicted.
As the investigation progresses, Hill and Jordan find themselves on the trail of a shadowy figure known only as "The Vindicator," who appears to be targeting certain individuals he believes have escaped justice. With time running out and a killer on the loose, Hill and Jordan must race against the clock to catch him before he strikes again.
The episode is filled with tension and suspense as Hill and Jordan work to unravel the mystery surrounding Anne Stavely's murder and the possible involvement of Alan McEwan. The performances by Robson Green (Hill) and Hermione Norris (Jordan) are top-notch, as always, and the supporting cast is excellent as well.
Overall, "Justice Painted Blind, Part 1" is a gripping and compelling episode that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Fans of crime dramas and psychological thrillers will not want to miss it.
