Joe is in a slump; he's sick of being a lowly taxi driver. But things start looking up when he takes on a famous sports star as a client, and the two hit it off. They bond over their shared love of baseball, and before long Joe's looking at this guy as a friend more than a client. But when the athlete's wife shows up late one night sporting a black eye, Joe finds himself embroiled in the middle of a domestic dispute. The wife pleads with Joe not to say anything, but Joe's sense of right and wrong won't let him let it go.
Meanwhile, Lowell's been trying to start up a dog-sledding business, much to the chagrin of his wife Bunny. But when Bunny's sister comes to visit, the two seem to hit it off a little too well, leaving Lowell feeling left out in the cold. He tries his best to keep up with the ladies, but soon realizes that they're both out of his league.
As for Brian, he's got his hands full when a fellow pilot comes to town looking to start up a flying school. Brian's all for the idea, until he realizes that the new guy is after his job. Brian tries everything he can think of to sabotage the guy's plans, but it's not until they're both forced to land on a deserted island that they really get to know each other. By the time they're rescued, Brian's come to an unexpected conclusion about his rival.
In the end, Joe's decision to do the right thing ends up costing him his friendship with the athlete, but he's at peace with his decision. Lowell learns an important lesson about not trying to keep up with others, and Brian realizes that competition isn't always what it's cracked up to be. All in all, it's a lesson-filled episode that's both touching and entertaining.
