Roy Biggins, the owner of Aeromass airlines, invites Helen to dinner, confesses his love for her, and proposes marriage. Despite her initial reluctance, Roy's persistent attempts to win her heart lead to an engagement. Joe is thrilled for Helen, but Brian is concerned that she is making a mistake by getting involved with someone like Roy.
Meanwhile, Lowell is faced with a predicament when he accidentally adopts a ferocious and unmanageable dog named Shakespear. He tries to train the dog using books on dog psychology, but to no avail. The dog continues to wreak havoc at the airport, causing chaos among the employees and customers.
As Helen's engagement progresses, Joe becomes increasingly frustrated with Roy's overbearing nature. He tries to convince Helen that marrying Roy is a bad idea, but Helen refuses to listen and insists that Joe is just jealous.
In an attempt to impress Helen, Roy decides to give her a lavish gift - a diamond necklace worth over $10,000. However, when he presents the necklace to her, it is revealed that he actually stole it from a passenger's luggage. Joe and Brian are horrified, and try to convince Helen that Roy is not the man for her, but she still refuses to listen.
Meanwhile, Lowell enlists the help of Antonio, a dog trainer, to help him tame Shakespeare. Antonio is successful in training the dog, but Lowell faces a difficult decision when he realizes that he has grown to love the dog and cannot imagine giving him up.
As Helen's wedding day approaches, tensions continue to rise between Roy and the Hackett brothers. When Roy's true colors are finally revealed, Helen is left heartbroken and calls off the wedding. Meanwhile, Lowell makes the difficult decision to give Shakespeare to Antonio, but is comforted by the fact that the dog will have a better life with someone who knows how to properly care for him.
In the end, Helen realizes that she should have listened to Joe and Brian's warnings about Roy from the beginning. The Hackett brothers are there to support her as she moves on from the failed engagement, and Lowell is happy to see that Shakespeare has found a loving home.
