In the first episode of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks season 3, titled "Back in the Battle," the captains and crew members of several North Carolina fishing boats are back on the water, ready to compete in the new Bluefin season. The stakes are high as the teams race to catch the giant Bluefin Tuna that can fetch up to $20,000 per fish.
Captain Greg Mayer of the Fishin' Frenzy is determined to start the season strong after a disappointing end to the previous year. He's joined by newcomer Nick Gowitzka, who's trying to prove himself and earn a permanent spot on the team. Meanwhile, Captain Tyler McLaughlin of the Pinwheel is back and ready to defend his title as the reigning champion of the Outer Banks.
As the boats head out to sea, tensions run high as the captains strategize their game plans. The ocean is unpredictable and full of challenges, from rough weather to mechanical malfunctions. Each boat must navigate these obstacles while keeping an eye out for signs of the elusive Bluefin.
The excitement ramps up as Captain Dale Lisi of the Foolish Pleasures hooks the first Bluefin of the season. It's a nerve-wracking battle to reel in the massive fish, but eventually, the crew is able to successfully bring it on board. However, their celebration is short-lived as they realize the fish doesn't meet the strict size limit and they must release it back into the water.
Meanwhile, Captain Greg and his team are struggling to get a bite. They've tried different techniques and locations, but still haven't had any luck. Their frustration grows as they see other boats around them pulling in fish after fish.
As the day wears on, the weather worsens and the ocean becomes even more treacherous. Some boats decide to call it a day and head back to shore, while others push on, unwilling to give up the fight. By the end of the episode, some teams will have chocked up a victory, while others will be left empty-handed.
Overall, "Back in the Battle" sets the stage for an exciting and competitive season of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks. Viewers will be on the edge of their seats as they watch the epic battles between man and fish, and the drama that unfolds both on and off the water.
