Tony Micelli is a retired baseball player who moves to Connecticut to work as a live-in housekeeper for advertising executive Angela Bower and her son, Jonathan. In season 2 episode 1 titled "It Happened One Summer (1)", Tony and his daughter Samantha are excited to spend their summer in the Hamptons with Angela and Jonathan. However, their plans are derailed when Samantha's friend Kelly shows up unexpectedly and insists on tagging along.

Angela is hesitant about having an extra guest in their already-crowded summer home, but eventually relents. As the group settles into their new surroundings, they discover that Kelly has brought along her pet turtle which creates a new set of problems.

Meanwhile, Angela's ex-husband, Michael, unexpectedly arrives at the house, causing tension between Angela and Tony. Michael is determined to win Angela back, but she is uninterested in rekindling their past romance.

As the group tries to enjoy their summer, they are faced with a series of mishaps and obstacles, including a power outage and a pipe bursting in the basement. Tony and Angela must work together to solve these problems and keep their guests comfortable.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Michael makes a surprising announcement that could change everything for Angela and Tony. Viewers are left eagerly anticipating the next episode to find out what happens next.
