Who's Got Jokes? was a comedy competition show that aired on TV One from 2006-2008. Hosted by comedian Bill Bellamy and co-hosted by Thomas Mikal Ford, the show featured up-and-coming comedians from across the country competing for a grand prize of $10,000 and a role in a TV One production.
Each episode of the show featured four comedians performing stand-up comedy routines for a live audience in front of a panel of judges that included Bellamy, Ford and two guest judges. The judges would rate the performances on a scale of 1-10, with the comedian who earned the highest score moving on to the next round.
In the second round, the remaining comedians would perform a sketch or character routine, with the judges once again rating the performances. The comedian with the highest score would then advance to the final round, where they would perform one final stand-up routine in front of the audience and judges to determine the winner.
One of the unique aspects of Who's Got Jokes? was its focus on showcasing comedians from diverse backgrounds, including African-American, Latino, Asian-American, and LGBTQ comedians. The show aimed to provide a platform for up-and-coming comedians who may not have had the same opportunities as their more established counterparts.
In addition to the competition itself, the show also featured segments that highlighted the comedians' personal journeys and struggles, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the production process. These segments gave viewers a glimpse into the world of stand-up comedy and the challenges faced by up-and-coming comedians.
Overall, Who's Got Jokes? was a fun and entertaining show that provided a platform for diverse comedians to showcase their talents and connect with audiences across the country. With its focus on inclusivity and diversity, the show helped to pave the way for future generations of comedians and entertainers.
