- May 31, 2019
Five innocent young men of color, dubbed the Central Park Five, were wrongly accused and convicted of raping a white woman in 1989. This series documents their heartbreaking and infuriating ordeal, from the moments leading up to their arrest to their final moments of freedom and the years of struggle that followed. In Episode 3, the investigation continues as the police turn to more aggressive tactics in their attempts to get confessions from the boys. Meanwhile, the families struggle to cope with the overwhelming scrutiny and media attention. The boys are separated and sent to different prisons, where they are faced with brutal conditions and violence on a daily basis. Through it all, they cling to their innocence and their faith in the justice system. As the trial approaches, tensions rise and the truth becomes increasingly muddled by the media frenzy and political pressure. This episode is a devastating portrayal of how power and prejudice can destroy young lives, and a necessary reminder of the ongoing fight for racial justice.
