In the 17th episode of season 7 of Wheeler Dealers, the dynamic duo of Mike Brewer and mechanic Edd China take on a new challenge in the form of a 1993 Land Rover Discovery that has seen better days.
The Land Rover Discovery is a classic off-road vehicle that was first introduced in 1989 as a more affordable and practical version of the luxurious Range Rover. It quickly became a favorite of adventure seekers and off-road enthusiasts, thanks to its rugged design, excellent performance, and impressive capabilities.
However, the Land Rover Discovery that Mike and Edd are working on has definitely seen better days. The car has been neglected for a long time, and it shows. The exterior is covered in rust and scratches, the engine is sluggish, and many of the important systems are either broken or not functioning properly.
Despite the challenges, Mike and Edd are determined to restore the Land Rover Discovery to its former glory. They start by stripping the car down to its frame and evaluating the damage. They discover that there are significant issues with the body, the suspension, and the electrical system.
Undaunted, they begin the process of repairing, replacing, and upgrading the various components of the car. They start by replacing the old shock absorbers and springs with new, heavy-duty versions that can handle the tough off-road conditions.
Next, they turn their attention to the engine. They discover that the carburetor is in bad shape, which is causing the engine to run poorly. They replace the carburetor with a new one and also install a new air filter to improve performance.
Mike and Edd also discover several electrical issues with the car, including a faulty alternator and a malfunctioning starter. They replace both components with new ones and also repair a number of damaged wires and connections.
After several weeks of hard work, the Land Rover Discovery starts to take shape once again. The exterior is repainted and all of the rust is removed. The interior is also refurbished, with new upholstery and carpets.
The final result is a Land Rover Discovery that looks and performs like new. Mike and Edd take it for a test drive to see how it handles in tough off-road conditions, and they are impressed by how well it performs.
In the end, Mike and Edd have successfully restored a classic off-road vehicle to its former glory. It's a testament to their skill and dedication, and a celebration of the Land Rover Discovery's status as a true off-road legend.
