In the season 6 episode 11 of Wheeler Dealers, the team sets their sights on a true Italian classic: the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4. Mike is thrilled to find one for sale, and immediately gets to work inspecting it. He notes that the bodywork is in good condition, though it has some rust issues that will need to be dealt with. The interior needs some work as well, with cracked leather seats and a cracked dashboard. Under the hood, the engine is in decent condition but will need a tune-up.
Mike takes the car for a test drive to get a feel for its performance. Though it's not as fast as some of the other Ferraris he's driven, he notes that it handles well and has a unique mid-engine layout that sets it apart from other cars of its era. Mike and Edd decide that the car has potential and make the decision to purchase it.
Back at the garage, Edd gets to work on stripping down the interior to assess the extent of the damage. He finds that the rust is worse than they initially thought and will need some serious attention. The dashboard is also in worse shape than they anticipated, so Edd sets about repairing it.
With the interior in progress, Mike turns his attention to the engine. He replaces some of the worn-out parts and improves the ignition system to get the car running more smoothly. He also augments the carburetors to help improve the engine's performance.
Meanwhile, Edd continues work on the interior, reupholstering the seats and fixing up the dashboard. He also removes the rust and repaints the bodywork to give the Ferrari a fresh look.
After several weeks of hard work, the car is finally ready for its reveal. The team takes it for a test drive and is pleased with how it performs. The rust issues have been dealt with, and the engine is running beautifully. The interior has been completely transformed, with new upholstery and a pristine dashboard.
Overall, the team is thrilled with the results of their labor. Though the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 may not be as well-known as other Ferraris, it has a unique character all its own, and the team has succeeded in restoring it to its former glory.
