In the third season of the classic animated series What's New Scooby-Doo?, the gang find themselves embroiled in yet another mystery. This time, in episode two entitled Go West, Young Scoob, the gang find themselves slap bang in the middle of the American West, as they investigate a peculiar case taking place in a rodeo.
The episode begins with the gang driving through the Wyoming countryside, their Mystery Machine van bouncing over the rugged terrain. They soon arrive at the Cowboy Camp Cook-Off, a popular event for foodies and cowboys alike. However, as always seems to be the case with the Scooby-Doo gang, what should be a relaxing and fun outing soon turns into something much more sinister.
As the gang settles in to watch the cook-off, they overhear the cowboy organizers complaining about strange happenings at the rodeo. Cattle rustling and missing prize bulls have turned the event into a dangerous endeavor, and the gang quickly realize that they are in the perfect position to solve the mystery.
It soon becomes clear that the primary suspect in the case is a rival cook-off competitor by the name of Big Ben. Not only does he seem to be acting suspiciously, but he's also been alienating himself from the rest of the cook-off participants. The gang decides to dig deeper into the situation, and it isn't long before they uncover several clues that seem to point towards Big Ben's involvement in the strange occurrences.
The bulk of the episode is set against the backdrop of the rodeo, and the atmosphere is action-packed and full of tension. The gang work to unravel the mystery, dodging cattle rustlers and staving off danger at every turn. It's classic Scooby-Doo fare, complete with the usual hijinks, slapstick humor, and heart-stopping chases.
Meanwhile, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo do their best to stay out of harm's way. At one point, they even find themselves riding one of the rustled cattle in a frantic chase through the rodeo grounds. It's a scene that is sure to have fans of the show chomping at the bit (pun intended).
As the episode winds to a close, the gang finally uncovers the truth behind the strange happenings at the cook-off. Without giving too much away, it's safe to say that viewers will be left satisfied with the satisfying conclusion and the reveal of the villains. The show ends with the gang driving off into the sunset, ready for their next adventure.
Overall, Go West, Young Scoob is a classic episode of What's New Scooby-Doo?. Fans of the series will love the tension and action-packed plotline, while newcomers to the franchise will find themselves thoroughly entertained by the classic characters and the humorous storyline. It's a satisfying addition to the series and is sure to please fans of the classic cartoon.
