The Fast and the Wormious is the third episode of the second season of the uber-popular animated series What's New Scooby-Doo? The show is known for its whimsical, mystery-filled plots and lovable characters who always seem to get themselves into trouble.
The episode opens with the gang heading to a desert town called Wormsville where they plan to attend an annual off-road race called the Worm Womp. This is a highly competitive race that has been taking place for decades, and this year several teams have gathered to participate.
As they arrive in Wormsville, the gang is greeted by a friendly man named "Fast" Eddie who welcomes them to the town. He is excited to see them and tells them about the local legend of the Worm Womp. According to the legend, a giant worm used to terrorize the town, but the residents managed to defeat it by using their off-road vehicles to crush it. Since then, the Worm Womp has been held annually to celebrate their victory over the worm.
The gang is intrigued by the legend, and they decide to investigate the story further. However, their plans are quickly derailed when they realize that one of the race teams has been sabotaged. The team's vehicle has been damaged, and their chances of winning the race are now slim. The team is convinced that someone is trying to ruin their chances of taking part in the Worm Womp, and they ask the gang to help them find the culprit.
The gang agrees to help, and they begin their investigation by examining the damaged vehicle. Upon inspection, they find a trail of slime leading away from the scene of the crime. They follow the trail and quickly stumble upon a worm-like creature that appears to be the size of a small car. The creature is incredibly fast and can tunnel through the ground, leaving behind a trail of slime in its wake.
The gang is stunned by the creature's appearance and realizes that the legend of the giant worm may not be just a myth after all. As they continue to investigate, they discover that other race teams have also been sabotaged. Each time, the same trail of slime is left behind, indicating that the worm-like creature is responsible for the crimes.
The gang becomes determined to catch the creature and clear the name of the wrongly accused race team. They come up with a plan to trap the creature, using a decoy vehicle to lure it into a trap. They set up the trap near an abandoned mine where the creature has been spotted before.
Their plan works, and the creature takes the bait. It chases after the decoy vehicle and ends up getting trapped in a pitfall that the gang had dug. The creature, it turns out, is nothing but a large worm, which had been mutated and exposed to nuclear radiation. The radiation had given it super-speed, which had allowed it to tunnel through the earth at incredible speeds and leave behind a trail of slime.
With the creature captured, the gang is able to clear the name of the wrongly accused race team. The team is overjoyed and thanks the gang for their help. They express their eagerness to compete in the Worm Womp, and the gang decides to stay and watch the race.
The Worm Womp turns out to be a thrilling and exciting event, with the teams racing through the desert and jumping over hills and dunes. In the end, the wrongly accused team emerges as the winner of the race, and everyone celebrates their victory.
