As governor, Vera Bennett is still struggling to assert her authority over the prison and keep the inmates in line. The arrival of a new prisoner named Sonia Stevens only adds to her troubles, as Sonia quickly begins to stir up trouble and make alliances with other inmates.
Meanwhile, tensions between Bea Smith and Allie Novak continue to escalate, as Allie begins to feel more in control of their relationship and Bea struggles to maintain her authority as top dog. When Kaz Proctor, a new inmate with a charismatic personality, arrives at the prison, she quickly spots the power struggle between Bea and Allie and sees an opportunity to manipulate the situation to her advantage.
As Kaz begins to recruit other inmates to her cause, Bea and Allie find themselves on opposite sides of a brewing conflict. The divide between them only deepens when Allie's past comes back to haunt her, threatening to jeopardize her position as Bea's right-hand woman.
Meanwhile, wounded and alone, Doreen is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of her son. When she receives some unexpected news, she begins to rethink her place in the prison hierarchy and starts to consider making some drastic changes in her life.
As the inmates continue to jockey for power and control, tensions rise to a boiling point. With the prison on the brink of erupting into violence, Vera must find a way to bring the inmates back under control before it's too late. But as the lines between friend and foe blur, she realizes that the only way to maintain order may be to make some difficult sacrifices.
