In Web of Lies season 4 episode 8, titled "Crime Scene Selfie," we are introduced to the story of a gruesome murder that takes place in a small town. The episode opens with the discovery of a body of a young woman named Amy, who has been brutally murdered in her apartment. The police are immediately called to the scene, and a full-fledged investigation is launched to find the killer.
As the investigation progresses, two suspects emerge - Amy's boyfriend, who has a history of violence, and her ex-boyfriend, who has a motive for the murder. The police question both suspects extensively and search their homes for evidence. However, they are unable to find anything conclusive, and both men are let go.
It is then that the police get a clue that leads them to a teenage girl named Sarah, who was friends with Amy. Sarah's social media pages reveal that she had been posting selfies from the crime scene, something that the police find extremely disturbing. When they question Sarah, she confesses to having been present at the crime scene when the murder occurred.
Sarah's confession leads the police to another suspect, a man named Jake, who had apparently been stalking Amy for quite some time. The police are able to track Jake down, and they find evidence linking him to the murder. Jake is arrested, and he eventually confesses to having killed Amy in a fit of rage.
The episode ends with the police finding closure in the case but feeling disturbed by the fact that the crime scene had been desecrated by people taking selfies. The episode showcases the dangers of social media and its impact on people's behavior and the criminal justice system.
