Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear make their return to the small screen with We Bare Bears season 3 episode 3, titled ‘Anger Management’. In this episode, the trio’s beloved laptop breaks down, leading them to a repair shop where they encounter a violent employee named Yuri who flies into a rage at the slightest provocation. When Yuri takes his anger out on the bears without reason, they decide to help him manage his anger by volunteering at the anger management class he attends.
The episode opens with the bears gathered around their laptop, using it to make a video for their social media followers. Suddenly, the laptop starts malfunctioning and they’re left with a black screen. While they try to figure out what’s wrong with it, they hear about a repair shop that specializes in fixing computers. The bears head there right away, but their experience at the repair shop ends up leaving them scarred.
At the shop, they meet Yuri, a burly man with a menacing appearance and a short temper. Yuri doesn’t seem too keen on helping the bears at first, but he eventually agrees to take a look at their laptop. As Yuri is trying to fix their laptop, he starts getting frustrated at the device and begins yelling. He blames the bears for the laptop's issues, although they have nothing to do with it.
As the episode unfolds, Yuri becomes increasingly volatile, throwing tools around the shop and losing his temper over the slightest thing. The bears are understandably frightened by his behavior and run out of the shop, but not before Yuri takes a swipe at Ice Bear and sends him flying across the room.
Realizing that something is wrong with Yuri, they follow him to an anger management class where he voluntarily attends. There, the bears meet Yuri's therapist and discover that he has issues with aggression and overall negative behavior. They offer to help Yuri manage his anger by volunteering at the same anger management program, and the rest of the episode follows their unique take on individual therapy.
As they participate in the program, Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear learn several anger management techniques themselves, which allows them to teach Yuri coping mechanisms that help him deal with his emotions without lashing out at others. They also learn that some of their own anger and aggression can be harmful to those around them and start working on making their behavior better.
‘Anger Management’ is a heartwarming episode that showcases the different techniques one can use to control negative behavior such as anger and frustration. The episode also deals with the idea of empathy and the importance of understanding and helping others, even if it’s someone who may not deserve it.
The animation and voice acting in this episode are on point as always, with the bears' unique personalities shining through in every scene. The story is well thought out, with just the right amount of humor and depth that makes the series stand out.
Overall, this episode is a great addition to an already fantastic series, providing a much-needed break from the hectic and stressful day to day life. It makes the viewer realize that sometimes, all it takes is a bit of kindness and understanding to help someone in need.
