Virus Buster Serge is a Japanese anime television series created by Masami Åbari in 1997. It is produced by Triangle Staff and Bandai Visual and was licensed for distribution in North America by Manga Entertainment. The story of Virus Buster Serge is set in the fictional city of Neo Hong Kong, where a powerful new technology called "biochips" has become the norm. These chips are highly advanced computers that can be implanted into a person's body, allowing them to access the internet, communicate with each other, and even control machines with their thoughts.
However, a sinister organization known as the "Phantom Solids" has discovered a way to turn these biochips into deadly weapons, capable of killing anyone who has one implanted. They are using this power to gain control over the city and its inhabitants, and only a small group of virus busters stands in their way.
The main character of the series is Serge, a young man who lost his memories in a biochip explosion and is now struggling to discover his past while fighting against the Phantom Solids. He is joined by a team of other virus busters, including a gun-toting vixen named Erika, a gentle healer named Mirei, and a mysterious swordsman named Jouichirou.
Together, they must battle the Phantom Solids and their leader, a twisted scientist named Raven, as they attempt to destroy the city and unleash a virus that could wipe out all life on Earth. Along the way, they discover the truth behind the biochips and the dark secrets that lie at the heart of Neo Hong Kong.
The animation in Virus Buster Serge is stunning, with highly detailed character designs and vivid, fast-paced action scenes. The voice acting is also top-notch, with a talented cast that includes Hirotaka Suzuoki, Mayumi Iizuka, Ai Orikasa, Haruna Ikezawa, Kazuki Yao, Shinichiro Miki, Keith Burgess, Michael Schwarz, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Tom Wilson, Wayne Grayson, and Frankie Rome.
One of the standout features of Virus Buster Serge is its use of music. The series is filled with pulse-pounding techno and heavy metal tracks that perfectly complement the intense action on screen. Composer Takashi Kudoh did an incredible job setting the mood and atmosphere for each episode, creating a soundtrack that is still memorable to this day.
Overall, Virus Buster Serge is a must-see for fans of action-packed anime. Its compelling story, unforgettable characters, and stunning visuals make it a classic of the genre. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and give it a watch. You won't be disappointed.
