Vintage Flip is a home renovation show that delves into the beauty and charm of vintage houses. The show's second season follows real estate agents, Jessie Rodriguez and Tina Rodriguez, as they take on different vintage homes, bringing them back to life with modern styles and features while still preserving the historical integrity of the house. In this episode, titled Spanish Salvage, the duo takes on a Mediterranean-style home that needs an update in a big way.
Located in the California city of Orange, just southeast of Los Angeles, this Spanish-style home was once a beautiful, elaborate space that had fallen into disrepair. The exterior of the house features a classic, red tile roof, stucco walls and arched doorways, which give it a Mediterranean feel. However, the inside of the home is in complete disarray with outdated decor, bad flooring, and an overall lack of personality.
Jessie and Tina are excited to tackle this project and restore the home's traditional Spanish style, while adding their own modern touches. To do this, they plan on taking advantage of the treasures of the Orange Circle Antique Mall. This unique show take-to-the-studio approach for great variety in the type of vintage they will be finding; and this time its no exception since its a Spanish-inspired home perhaps as well to find some well-preserved antiques that will work well with the house aesthetic.
The home is a fixer-upper, and the folks at Vintage Flip have their work cut out for them. First up is the living room, which they plan on transforming into a space that showcases the Spanish style of the home. Jessie and Tina search for antique pieces that exemplify Spanish craftsmanship, such as a rustic wooden bench and a wrought-iron chandelier to give the room a traditional vibe while complimented with sapphire and emerald green hues. For flooring, they've chosen patterned tile that also pays homage to Spanish decor.
Next is the kitchen, and it's in dire need of an overhaul. The old cabinets and appliances need to go, making way for a fresh and modern look. Jessie and Tina found salvaged wood that is perfect for the new kitchen island, and they also add custom cabinetry, along with a mixed-metal backsplash and an elegant, waterfall-edged countertop.
The spacious dining room with arched doorways connects to the living room and is ideal for entertaining needs but has to be given a more proper setting for it to showcase its role. Jessie and Tina make use of their collected antique finds to incorporate a charming, Spanish-style dining table and lighting. A stunning chandelier made of antique Spanish oil lanterns provides a touch of elegance and serves as a focal point of the room.
Last but not least, is the outdoor space, and as we know in its share of outdoor renovation, the team here doesn't hold back. In this Spanish-style home, they opt to create an outdoor lounge that captures Mediterranean charm. Jessie and Tina convert an old, tired pool into an eye-catching water feature using Moroccan tiles, adding an outdoor kitchen, and finally creating a lounge area with a furniture piece that uses vibrant colors of blue and orange color, delivering a warm and comfortable vibe for guests.
Overall, Spanish Salvage episode showcases Jessie and Tina's ability to restore the charm of an old house while adding a modern flair. The final result is a beautiful, bright, and updated home that still celebrates the traditional Spanish style. The team's emphasis on repurposing and restoring helped maintain the home's historical integrity while breathing new life into every corner. It's an inspiring episode for those who appreciate vintage homes and the beauty of restoring them.
