Tori Vega (portrayed by Victoria Justice) is your typical high school student except for one thing - she attends Hollywood Arts, a performing arts school in Hollywood, California. Season 3 Episode 17, titled Opposite Date, starts with Tori and her friend Andre Harris (played by Leon Thomas III) hanging out in the school's cafeteria. They both complain about their lack of romantic prospects and Andre suggests they try a new approach: going on opposite dates. That is, Tori will accompany a guy who is her complete opposite, and Andre will do the same with a girl.
Tori is hesitant at first, but she eventually agrees. She heads to a bowling alley with her date, Russ (played by Elden Henson). Russ is a complete slob, wearing a stained shirt and not making any effort to impress Tori. Tori, in contrast, is dressed to impress and tries to make conversation with Russ. However, Russ turns out to be a terrible communicator and only talks about himself. Tori starts getting fed up and decides to leave, but things take a surprising turn when Russ suddenly reveals a hidden talent.
Meanwhile, Andre is having his own opposite date with a girl named Meredith (portrayed by Emily Ratajkowski). Meredith is a stereotypical Hollywood diva, obsessed with herself and her appearance. Andre struggles to find anything in common with her and tries to leave early, but Meredith insists they stay out late and go to a fancy restaurant. Andre reluctantly agrees, but things get worse when Meredith starts insulting him in front of the waitstaff. Andre has had enough and decides to stand up for himself, leading to a humorous and unexpected ending.
Back at Hollywood Arts, Tori's friends are also dealing with their own problems. Cat Valentine (played by Ariana Grande) is upset because her crush, Robbie Shapiro (portrayed by Matt Bennett), has not been paying her enough attention. She asks for advice from her friend Jade West (portrayed by Elizabeth Gillies), who suggests she make Robbie jealous by pretending to have a new love interest. Cat tries to make Robbie jealous with another guy, but things don't go as planned.
Meanwhile, Robbie is dealing with his own dilemma - a pesky fly that won't leave him alone. He enlists the help of his friend Beck Oliver (portrayed by Avan Jogia) to help him get rid of the fly, leading to some hilarious and chaotic situations.
Overall, Opposite Date is a fun and lighthearted episode that showcases the various personalities and dynamics among Tori and her friends. It highlights the importance of communication, standing up for oneself, and learning to appreciate others' hidden talents. The episode is filled with witty dialogue, humorous situations, and some unexpected twists and turns, making it a must-watch for any fan of the show.
