In season 2 episode 18 of Vets Saving Pets, titled "All Choked Up," viewers will accompany Dr. Debbie James as she tries to save a Chihuahua named Peanut. Peanut is brought into the clinic by his owner, who is panicking because he thinks Peanut is choking. Dr. James and her team of veterinarians perform tests on Peanut, but they cannot determine what is causing him to choke. They use xrays, blood tests, and other diagnostic tools to try and determine what is causing the problem.
Despite their efforts, Peanut's condition continues to worsen, and they realize they must perform surgery on him to save his life. During the surgery, they discover that Peanut had swallowed an object that was obstructing his airway. They successfully remove it, but Peanut is still in critical condition. The team works tirelessly to monitor his vital signs and ensure he is getting the care he needs.
Meanwhile, the show also follows Dr. Sharon French as she helps a Golden Retriever who has an infected and swollen paw. The owners are worried that the infection will spread and cause further issues, so they bring the dog into the clinic. Dr. French works to drain the infection and provide antibiotics to help the dog heal.
Throughout the episode, viewers will also meet other pets and their owners who are seeking veterinary care. One dog suffers from a painful ear infection, while another is brought in for a check-up and receives a diagnosis of a chronic condition. The show emphasizes the importance of regular check-ups and preventative care for pets, as well as the dedication of veterinarians who work hard to provide quality care.
As the episode comes to a close, viewers will see the progress Peanut has made since his surgery. He is now able to breathe more easily and is expected to make a full recovery. The show ends with a reminder of the importance of keeping an eye on pets' behavior and seeking veterinary help if necessary, as well as the gratitude of owners who have had their pets' lives saved by caring veterinarians.
