In Episode 7 of Versailles season 1, tensions between King Louis XIV and his brother Philippe continue to rise as they both compete for political power. While Louis focuses on building the Palace of Versailles, Philippe schemes with their mother to undermine Louis and gain more influence in court.
Meanwhile, Louis' mistress Madame de Montespan becomes increasingly paranoid about her place in the king's affections, particularly when she discovers that Louis has taken a new mistress. She enlists the help of her friend Sophie to spy on the king and gather information about his new lover.
As Louis becomes more absorbed in his project of building Versailles, he begins to neglect his wife Queen Marie-Therese. Marie-Therese, feeling isolated and overlooked, seeks comfort in the company of her ladies-in-waiting, but finds little solace there.
Amidst the political maneuvering and personal drama at court, a group of masked intruders break into the palace in the middle of the night, intent on stealing a valuable tapestry. The royal guards, led by the determined and capable Fabien Marchal, must work quickly to catch the culprits and prevent any further security breaches.
As tensions come to a head and secrets are uncovered, the fate of Louis' reign and the future of France itself hang in the balance. Episode 7 of Versailles season 1 is a thrilling chapter in the saga of courtly intrigue, power struggles, and forbidden passion.
