Vampire Princess Miyu is a horror anime series which originally aired on TV Tokyo from 1988 to 1989. The show is based on the manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Narumi Kakinouchi. The anime adaption was directed by Toshihiro Hirano and produced by AIC.

The story of Vampire Princess Miyu is set in modern-day Japan and centers around a young girl named Miyu. On the surface, Miyu appears to be a normal high school student. However, she is actually a vampire princess who has been tasked with hunting down and sealing away demonic beings known as Shinma. Along with her companion, a demon slayer named Larva, Miyu travels through the human world, protecting its inhabitants from the dangers of the Shinma.

The show's protagonist, Miyu, is voiced by Miki Nagasawa. Miyu is often cold and aloof, but she is fiercely devoted to her duty as a vampire princess. Her companion, Larva, is played by Shinichiro Miki. Larva is a mysterious figure who wears a mask to conceal his true identity. He is fiercely loyal to Miyu and will do anything to protect her.

Other notable cast members include Megumi Ogata as Miyu's classmate, Hisae Aoki. Hisae is one of the few humans who knows about Miyu's true identity and often provides her with support. Asa Shirakura voices Miyu's mother, Miyu's mother was a human who was turned into a vampire by her husband, a member of the Shinma. Chiharu Tezuka voices Reiha, a Shinma who often clashes with Miyu. Mika Kanai plays Matsukaze, a Shinma who is loyal to Miyu. Narita Ken voices Miyu's father, who is one of the main antagonists of the series. Okiayu Ryoutarou plays Kei, a human who becomes entangled in Miyu's world. Yuri Shiratori voices Chisato, a young girl who becomes involved with the Shinma. Akio Ohtsuka and Yasunori Matsumoto play Gessho and Miyahito, respectively. Gessho is a powerful Shinma who serves as Miyu's primary antagonist, while Miyahito is a human who becomes embroiled in Miyu's battles with the Shinma.

The animation style of Vampire Princess Miyu is dark and unsettling, perfectly capturing the horror elements of the series. The show's soundtrack is suitably eerie, featuring haunting melodies and creepy sound effects. The series features a mix of episodic and serialized storytelling, with Miyu and Larva facing off against a different Shinma each episode while also working to uncover the larger conspiracy at play.
