Ep 7. Don't Over Think It

The episode "Don't Over Think It" of Upper Middle Bogan's first season features the lives of the Wheeler household as they react to a change that has taken place within their family dynamic. Bess brings her son to attend Edwina and Troy's wedding, which prompts her daughter to be envious and resentful. The occasion brings Bess and Danny in closer contact as they reminisce about their past while trying to avoid their differences.

Bess is having a difficult time trying to deal with the reality that her once-proud family has become anything but the posh upper-class they used to be, and she feels she is losing grip of her steely sense of self. Days before the wedding of her sister, Bess' daughter, Amber, thinks she should have been the bride, and her son, Oscar, tries to work out his family tree.

As the wedding approaches, Bess struggles to come to terms with her family's social status, her place, and their background that made her. She finds it challenging to understand how her working-class upbringing squares with the wealthy world she now inhabits, all the while trying to downplay her delight at her daughter's newfound professional development.

Meanwhile, her sister Edwina is looking around for positives, such as the fact that she is having a 'traditional white wedding', until she has second thoughts, and her fiance Troy is keen to impress with his distinctive stag night choices.

Alongside the Wheelelr's lively family dramas, the wedding is attended by a range of bizarre characters that perfectly fit the bill of quirky guests only found at wedding events. The couple's less-than-pleased wedding planner must go to great lengths and deal with all the unexpected hitches and mishaps that take place to give the couple the wedding of their dreams.

As all eyes are on the bride and groom, the Wheeler family reaches a significant crossroad. Bess realizes that so much needs to change internally in their family before she begins to understand where they stand as a unit. In the end, the family pulls together in these transformative times as they must come to the realization that while their lives may not be perfect, they are still all incredibly lucky to have each other.
