Bridget is thrilled to share her news with the family that she has won a prestigious local photography competition. But when the Swans' family portrait is commissioned to be taken by an avant-garde photographer, Bridget feels like her photographic style is outdone and unappreciated. Meanwhile, Danny uncovers information about Margaret's family tree and has an identity crisis. He yearns to know his roots and heritage, but his search opens up a can of worms and he realizes the idea of family is not always perfect. Meanwhile, Bess has trouble adjusting with her new friend Marin who is overly confident and always seems to outdo her in every capacity. Bess learns the importance of sticking up for herself and voicing her opinion, even if it means hurting a friend's feelings. As each member of the family navigates through their challenges, they come to understand that it is the imperfections in life that make it beautiful and precious.
