Ep 13. Kuih untuk Opah (bhg 1)

Upin & Ipin is an animated television series that originated in Malaysia. It follows the adventures of two young boys, Upin and Ipin, and their family and friends in a fictional village, Kampung Durian Runtuh.
In season 5 episode 13, entitled "Kuih untuk Opah (bhg 1)" (which means "Snacks for Grandma" in English) the twins are excited to help their grandmother (Opah) with her work. They notice that she's been working hard all day long and hasn't had any time to snack. So, they decide to make her some of her favourite snacks, "kuih", which are traditional Malaysian sweets.
The episode starts off with everyone in the village gathered in the living room of Opah's house. Upin and Ipin notice that Opah is very tired, so they want to help her. But they're not sure what to do since Opah always says that she can handle everything on her own. However, Upin and Ipin are persistent and eventually convince Opah to let them help her.
The twins are very excited to help Opah and they're determined to make the best "kuih" that Opah has ever tasted. They ask Opah what kind of "kuih" she likes and she tells them that she loves "keladi" (taro) "kuih". They quickly get to work, gathering all the necessary ingredients and utensils. They even make a list of the steps they need to take so that they don't forget anything.
As they start making the "kuih", they face several challenges along the way. The most notable one is when they realise that they don't actually know how to cook. But they've got a very supportive and loving family that helps them overcome the difficulties.
Throughout the episode, we see the twins’ determination to make their grandmother happy. They meticulously follow the recipe, even if it means that they have to visit the local market to get the missing ingredients. They also encounter a few distractions along the way – they get sidetracked playing a game on the phone, and looking up things online for help - but they eventually get back on track, ensuring the "kuih" is prepared just right.
The episode ends with everyone in the village reflecting on how much they love Opah and how grateful they are for her presence in their lives. Upin and Ipin present Opah with a plate of their freshly made "keladi kuih” and Opah is overjoyed. She declares it to be the best "keladi kuih" she's ever tasted and tells the boys how proud she is of them. The twins are thrilled, and it's clear that their love and dedication to their grandmother has brought joy to the entire household.
Overall, "Kuih untuk Opah (bhg 1)" is a heartwarming episode that highlights the importance of family and community. It's an excellent reminder of how even small gestures can make a significant impact on those we love. It's also a great introduction to Malaysian culture and traditional sweets. Kids (and parents) will enjoy following along with Upin and Ipin's adventure and learning how to make "kuih".
