Ultraman X is a Japanese tokusatsu (live-action special effects) television series produced by Tsuburaya Productions. The show premiered in Japan in July 2015, and was globally distributed by Shout! Factory TV. Ultraman X follows the story of Daichi Ozora, a young man who gained the power to transform into a giant hero named Ultraman X with the help of a high-tech device called the X-Devizer. Together with a team of fellow heroes, he fights against various monsters and aliens that threaten the Earth.
The show is set in the near future, where the Earth has been visited by various alien races for centuries. Most of them are peaceful and have contributed to human progress in various ways, but some are hostile and seek to conquer the planet. To counter these threats, the Earth Defense Force (EDF) was established, a global organization that uses high-tech weapons and vehicles to fight against alien invaders. However, the EDF soon discovers that conventional weapons are ineffective against the monsters that some aliens unleash on Earth. To combat this new threat, they enlist the help of Ultraman X, a friendly giant hero who can transform with the X-Devizer device.
The series is divided into several arcs, each following a different storyline and introducing new characters and monsters. The first arc focuses on Daichi's introduction to the Ultraman X team and his struggles to master his powers. Along the way, he befriends a young woman named Asuna Yamase, who helps him pilot the X-Driver vehicle that deploys Ultraman X to battle. The team also includes a veteran EDF member named Captain Shotaro Kamiki, who has extensive knowledge of alien technology and monsters, and a scientist named Dr. Guruman who develops new weapons and equipment for the EDF.
The second arc brings in a new set of villains, the monster-hunting organization known as the Dark Thunder Energy Corporation (DTEC), led by a shadowy figure named Guruman Sidu. DTEC seeks to capture and control the monsters that invade Earth, hoping to exploit their powers for profit and power. They clash with the EDF and Ultraman X in several battles, and it is revealed that Guruman Sidu has a personal connection to Dr. Guruman, which complicates the situation.
The third arc introduces a new Ultraman hero, Zero, who arrives from a distant planet to help Ultraman X and the EDF against a powerful alien empire called the Magma Beast Army. This arc features many epic battles and key plot developments, including a betrayal within the EDF and the reveal of Ultraman X's true origin.
Throughout the series, the heroes encounter a wide variety of monsters and aliens, some of which are classic creatures from the Ultraman franchise, such as Gomora, Eleking, and King Joe. Each monster has unique powers and characteristics, which often force Ultraman X to adapt his tactics and use new abilities. The show also features plenty of humor, drama, and character development, as the heroes learn to work together and overcome their personal challenges.
Ultraman X has been praised by fans and critics for its high production values, exciting action scenes, and engaging characters. The show's special effects and suit designs are top-notch, and the music score is epic and memorable. The show also features many Easter eggs and references to previous Ultraman series, making it a treat for long-time fans. Overall, Ultraman X is a must-watch for anyone who loves tokusatsu, giant monsters, and heroic action.
