Ryouta Sakamoto is the top player of Btooom!, an online battle game. In spite of his achievements, he is unhappy and detached from the rest of society. One day, he wakes up on a tropical island with no memory of how he got there. He is presented with a bag of bombs, a strange crystal embedded in his left hand and a clear mission to survive.

In the Ultimate Otaku Teacher season 1 episode 18, titled "A Gamer's Pride," Ryouta Sakamoto is motivated to become the top player of Btooom! after meeting with his high school teacher Junichirou Kagami. Junichirou reminds Ryouta of the true joy of playing games, and offers him some wise advice on how to achieve his goals.

With renewed vigor, Ryouta sets out to defeat his rivals in the virtual battle world of Btooom!. He takes on the toughest challenges and grinds relentlessly to level up his character. However, his obsession with the game eventually leads him down a dangerous path, and it becomes clear that he needs to re-evaluate his priorities.

In this episode, we see how gaming can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can be a source of great enjoyment and entertainment. On the other hand, it can consume a person's life and cause them to neglect important responsibilities. Through Ryouta's journey, we witness the importance of balance in all aspects of life.

The episode also explores the theme of pride. Ryouta has an intense desire to be the best at Btooom!, and he places his self-worth in his ability to excel at the game. This leads him to belittle other players and develop a sense of superiority. However, he soon realizes that this attitude is toxic and only serves to isolate him from others.

Overall, "A Gamer's Pride" is an insightful and thought-provoking episode that delves into the ups and downs of gaming culture. It encourages viewers to find a healthy balance between their love for games and their real-life responsibilities. Through Ryouta's experiences, we learn that true success comes not from being the best at something, but from finding happiness and fulfillment in our daily lives.
