Ep 3. Faith

In season 2 episode 3 of Tyrant, titled "Faith," tensions continue to rise in Abbudin as the country struggles to navigate political and religious conflicts.

Barry, the American-born son of the late tyrant and newly-appointed President of Abbudin, is facing opposition from his own government, as well as from his family. His brother, Jamal, who was supposed to take over the presidency but was paralyzed in an assassination attempt, is resentful of Barry's power and makes no secret of his disdain. Barry's wife, Molly, is still adjusting to her new life in Abbudin and the cultural differences that come with it.

Meanwhile, General Tariq Al-Fayeed, Barry and Jamal's cousin and one of the country's most prominent military leaders, is working to cement his own power and influence. He sees his opportunity to do so when a group of extremist religious leaders, led by the fiery and charismatic Sheik Rashid, arrive in Abbudin to spread their message of radical Islam. Their presence threatens to upset the delicate balance of power and potentially lead to civil war.

As the episode progresses, tensions between the government and the religious leaders continue to escalate. Barry must navigate his own religious identity as a Muslim-American and confront the fact that his actions as President could have far-reaching consequences for the people of Abbudin. Molly, still grappling with her own feelings of disenfranchisement, finds solace in unexpected places.

On the military front, Tariq is working to solidify his control over the country's armed forces. He is aided in this effort by his daughter-in-law, Nusrat, who has her own agenda and is eager to prove her worth to Tariq.

As the episode comes to a close, it becomes clear that the situation in Abbudin is growing increasingly unstable. The competing forces of religion, politics, and personal ambition threaten to tear the country apart. It remains to be seen if Barry can find a way to bring peace and stability to his troubled nation or if it is doomed to follow a path of violent extremism.
