Co-written by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the third season of Twin Peaks fleshes out the surreal, quirky universe that fans fell in love with over 25 years ago. "The Return, Part 10" is the tenth episode of the season, and it doesn't hold back on the strange and mysterious happenings that the show is known for.
The episode begins with Dougie (Kyle MacLachlan) still in a comatose state, much to the frustration of his wife and coworkers. However, Dale Cooper's doppelganger (also played by MacLachlan) is on the move, and he's causing trouble wherever he goes. He meets with a gang of drug dealers who are supplying the infamous "sparkle" drug, which is revealed to be linked to the Black Lodge and its demonic inhabitants.
Meanwhile, in Twin Peaks, Sheriff Truman (Robert Forster), Andy (Harry Goaz), and Lucy (Kimmy Robertson) are dealing with a strange woman who claims to be the wife of "Billy," a man who has been missing for days. As they try to figure out who Billy is and what has happened to him, they also receive a surprise visitor – Agent Cooper's old nemesis, Windom Earle.
At the same time, Deputy Hawk (Michael Horse) receives a cryptic message from the Log Lady (Catherine E. Coulson), who warns him about "the Truman brothers." Hawk tries to decipher the message and seeks out more information from the Log Lady, but the conversation only leaves him more confused.
As the episode progresses, we also get glimpses of other characters and their struggles. Dr. Jacoby (Russ Tamblyn) is broadcasting rants from his golden shovels on a YouTube channel, Nadine (Wendy Robie) is worried about her silent drape runners, and Jerry Horne (David Patrick Kelly) is still lost in the woods.
One of the highlights of "The Return, Part 10" is a stunning musical performance by Rebekah Del Rio, who sings an emotional rendition of "No Stars." The scene is haunting and beautiful, and it serves as a reminder of Lynch's talent for combining music, visuals, and narrative.
The episode ends with a surprising revelation about one of the show's key characters, and it sets the stage for even more twists and turns in the episodes to come. Fans of Twin Peaks will appreciate the episode's blend of suspense, humor, and surrealism, and they'll be left wanting more.
