True Life is a reality TV series that follows individuals as they navigate some of life's most challenging issues. In Season 8, Episode 15, we meet two individuals who live with Tourette's Syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics.

The first individual we meet is 21-year-old Tyler, who was diagnosed with Tourette's at age 10. Tyler's tics include jerking his head and making loud throat-clearing sounds. He explains that living with Tourette's can be a challenge because he never knows when a tic will strike. Tyler says he's been mocked and bullied because of his tics, and he's struggled with depression and anxiety as a result.

We also meet 26-year-old Alexa, who was diagnosed with Tourette's at age 7. Alexa's tics include shaking her head violently and making loud, screeching noises. Like Tyler, Alexa says she's been bullied and excluded because of her tics. She also struggles with anxiety and depression.

Throughout the episode, we see how Tyler and Alexa manage their Tourette's on a day-to-day basis. They both take medication to help control their tics, but they still experience unexpected episodes. Tyler finds some relief through playing drums and listening to music, while Alexa uses writing as a way to cope.

We also get a glimpse into the impact Tourette's has on their social lives. Tyler attends a support group for people with Tourette's, where he meets others who share his experiences. Alexa, on the other hand, struggles to find acceptance among her peers. She attends a party with her friends, but her tics cause some discomfort. Later, Alexa opens up to her mother about how hard it is to be constantly judged because of her condition.

The episode also touches on the challenges of dating with Tourette's. Tyler says he's struggled to find a partner who can accept his tics, while Alexa worries that her Tourette's will scare off potential partners. We see both individuals go on dates and navigate the awkwardness that comes with disclosing their condition.

Overall, "I Have Tourette's Syndrome" offers an intimate look into the lives of two individuals who live with a misunderstood and often stigmatized condition. Despite their challenges, Tyler and Alexa remain resilient and hopeful for the future. The episode sheds light on the importance of empathy and acceptance, and encourages viewers to consider the challenges faced by those with Tourette's and other neurological conditions.
