Sookie's relationships with both Bill and Eric come to a head in "Let's Get Out of Here," the ninth episode of True Blood's fourth season.
After killing Marcus, Alcide is understandably on edge. He seeks comfort from Sookie, who takes him to a shifter bar to unwind. Eric and Bill show up, and after a tense encounter, Sookie decides she's had enough of their squabbling. She's done with vampires altogether, she says, and storms out.
Later, Alcide and Sookie share a moment outside her home. They kiss, but Alcide pulls away and says he can't get involved with her. She's too entangled with vampires, he says. Sookie is left alone, frustrated and confused.
Meanwhile, Jason is being held captive by Felton (James Harvey Ward), the hot-headed werepanther who wants to turn him into one of their own. Felton's sister Crystal rescues Jason, but not before he's injected with a mysterious substance that leaves him feverish and hallucinating.
Back at the Moon Goddess Emporium, Marnie and Antonia have achieved their goal of summoning the spirit of a long-dead witch who was burned at the stake. The witch, who goes by the name of "Ghost," is initially reluctant to help them. But after Antonia explains their plan to make amends for humanity's past atrocities against witches, Ghost agrees to help.
Ghost possesses Lafayette, who tests out his new powers by making an abusive ex-boyfriend leave Jesus alone. But when Ghost tries to possess Antonia, things go wrong. Antonia is able to keep Ghost at bay, but she collapses, unconscious. Marnie realizes that something is terribly wrong.
"Let's Get Out of Here" is a dramatic episode that sets the stage for the season's final run of episodes. With Sookie seeming to turn away from vampires, Bill and Eric must find a way to win her back. Meanwhile, Jason's fate remains uncertain, and the tension within the Moon Goddess Emporium continues to grow. It's a compelling installment that offers plenty of thrills and surprises.
