In this episode of Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, titled "Wherefore Art Thou, Trollhunter?," we see Jim, our hero, struggling with balancing his new responsibilities as a Trollhunter and his everyday life as a high school student. Jim finds himself falling behind in class and disappointing his teachers and friends. To make matters worse, his crush, Claire, lands the lead role in their school play, Romeo and Juliet, which Jim was also hoping to be a part of.
However, Jim's personal issues are soon interrupted by the arrival of a new troll threat. He and his trusty friend and troll, Blinky, are called upon to investigate the sudden appearance of a mysterious new troll in the town. Meanwhile, Jim's best friend, Toby, takes on the task of helping Jim prepare for his upcoming role in the school play.
As Jim investigates the new troll in town, he discovers that it is not acting alone. With the help of Blinky and some clever detective work, Jim discovers that several other "gum-gum" creatures, smaller trolls that are usually harmless, have been captured and brainwashed into doing the bidding of the mysterious new troll.
Jim and Blinky soon find themselves in the midst of a battle with the gum-gums, fighting to save the town from their destructive path. However, things take a turn for the worse when the new troll reveals itself to be a formidable foe, more powerful than any troll Jim has fought before.
Back at school, Toby helps Jim rehearse for his role in Romeo and Juliet, but Jim's mind is elsewhere as he worries about the troll threat. However, with Toby's help, Jim is able to win the affections of Claire by serenading her with a musical number during a rehearsal for the play.
In the end, Jim and Blinky are able to defeat the new troll threat and return the gum-gums to their harmless ways. Jim is also able to reconcile his responsibilities as a Trollhunter with his personal life, thanks to the help of his friends. The episode ends with Jim performing in the school play, Romeo and Juliet, with Claire by his side, and a renewed sense of confidence and purpose in his duties as a Trollhunter.
